When Pigs Lie: Murder of Eric Logan Sparks Fiya of African Resistance

South Bend, IN–Early morning Sunday, June 16 2019, Father’s Day, South Bend pig Sgt. Ryan O’neil murdered 54-year-old African Eric Logan in the parking lot of an apartment complex as Logan left his mother’s home. According to the pigs, Logan burglarized six cars before O’neil, a 19-year veteran of the occupying force, approached him. O’neil claims he shot Logan because the African approached him with a knife and ignored the pig’s orders to drop it. , O’neil tried to say that once he shot Logan in the abdomen, he immediately threw the knife at pig O’neil, striking him on his elbow. This prompted O’neil to fire again, missing Logan and striking a vehicle. Two shots were fired: one striking Logan, the other missing him.

Poor and working class Africans called out the BS on these allegations. The People know that Logan, known in the community as 5-9, did not have a knife and did not burglarize cars. Frustrations with the pigs and with mayor (and presidential candidate) Pete Buttgieg hit a boiling point when Buttgieg held a public town hall meeting in the African community. Enraged Africans stormed the auditorium as part of a series of week-long protests. They demanded that the mayor remove pigs from the African community, questioned why O’neil’s body camera was not activated, and further demanded that the Chief of Police be fired or demoted. This disruption was seen across the world as ruling class media covered the event where Africans challenged white power and waved the African flag as a sign of resistance and unity for the African world to see. Through continued resistance, including demonstrations that brought out between 100-150 participants, Africans were able to: get a special prosecutor assigned to the case, force the mayor to write a letter to the Department of Justice requesting assistance with the investigation, and secure a commitment from the mayor to support a plan for community policing. This is the power of the people in action.

Currently, the community has put forward the following demands:

  1. That reparations be paid to the Logan family
  2. That pigs Ryan O’neil and Aaron Knepper be removed from the force
  3. That Pete Buttigieg fire or demote Chief Scott Ruscowski
  4. That the city adopt stronger Body cam, dash cam, and use of force policies
  5. That a special prosecutor be assigned to all criminal complaints against officers
  6. Funding for a Citizens’ Review Board
  7. Annual bias testing and anti-bias training; de-escalation and less use of force training for pigs
  8. Funding for community policing program that is separate from the pigs

On Monday, July 15 2019, pig O’Neil officially resigned from the police department due to growing public pressure from the African Community. Africans are giving the mayor until Aug 3rd to meet all of the other demands. The resistance forces in the community will hold a 24-hour standoff outside of the County City Building where the mayor’s office is located. The ruling class of south bed in shaking in their boots because they know the african community is ready for freedom .Fists up, fight back!
