Here is the original case

There was a thin layer of metal inside the PS2 case, I suppose for cooling or whatnot, but I removed it because I had a lot of cutting to do, and I was worried about shorting the motherboard out.

Here’s a picture of how I would weigh things down when I was glueing them onto the inside of the case. This is a plastic riser that I cut off the case before-hand, and now I’m re-affixing it to the case to be used as a support for the motherboard.

Things went along pretty quickly after that. Here is the motherboard sitting in the case. The hard drive is located below the mobo on the left, and the DVD drive is located on the right.

As you can kind-of see here, there is very little room between the hard drive and the motherboard.

Here’s another shot of the computer coming along.

Here is a completed shot of the PS2 computer. The motherboard sticks out of the front where the Playstation 2 gets smaller, so I have the IDE cable and the power supply located there.

Here is the back of the computer. Those wires sticking out are the power and reset buttons, as well as the hard drive and power led’s. I’m planning on trying to put them where the original ps2’s power/cd drive buttons are

Just another shot. Here I was having trouble with the hard drive not spinning up. I think it was due to my “custom length” ide cables, though i’m not sure. I replaced them with a normal length cable, and now it works fine. Although, the cable is too long, and you’ll see it sticking out in one of the next photos.

Here you can see that the PS2 is really being assembled upside down. With the larger section on the bottom, the cd drive is currently upside down.

Oh glory be! The project is mostly completed, as I now have a fully working computer that fits in a PS2! Complete with Slim DVD Drive! On the right on my desk you can see the Morex Power Supply that I need to put in either the top of the PS2 where there is still some room, or in its own project box.
